“Musically her sound is vibrant, yet with a gentleness to it that is reminiscent of Tori Amos and Fiona Apple. Posner’s lyrics deal with very real subjects, as is the case with “Supernova.”
— STACCATOFY, 2019
Tess Posner began singing in coffee-houses as a teenager, and continued as a passion throughout her ten years as a social entrepreneur and activist – supporting women and under-represented communities. Less than two years ago her passion for music reignited, and not without influence from those experiences – her songwriting deals with topics such as trauma, struggle and self-empowerment.
In 2018, Tess released her debut EP – One Thousand Petals – a well received project that introduced her sound and her values as an artist. Musically, Tess Posner brings together elements of inspiration from the likes of Tori Amos, Massive Attack, Portishead and Fiona Apple, to name just a few. Gentle indie-pop and acoustic qualities meet with trip-hop and even subtle EDM on occasion. There’s a delicate intensity; calming soundscapes are accompanied by profound and thoughtful ideas.
In 2019, Tess released a new single “Supernova” on International Women’s Day collaborating with Producer Trey Vittetoe (who’s produced Selena Gomez, Mylie Cyrus and Katy Perry among others) and is planning a several new songs and live shows in the Bay Area.
Tess is also a social entrepreneur and CEO of a nonprofit organization in the Bay Area focused on increasing diversity in the tech sector.
